About the position

Barclays Services Corp is seeking a Syndicate Application Developer to join their team in New York, New York. This role involves supporting and enhancing existing platforms while also contributing to the development and onboarding of a new platform specifically designed for Equity Syndicate deals. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and supporting a suite of applications that are utilized globally by various teams including the equities syndicate desk, institutional sales and traders, research, compliance, business development services, and accounts management personnel. It is crucial that all activities and duties are performed in full compliance with regulatory requirements, the Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework, and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards. The primary purpose of this role is to design, develop, and improve software using various engineering methodologies to provide business, platform, and technology capabilities for both customers and colleagues. The developer will be expected to deliver high-quality software solutions by utilizing industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools, ensuring that the code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance. Collaboration is key in this role, as the developer will work cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration with business objectives. Additionally, the developer will participate in code reviews, promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing, and stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations. Adherence to secure coding practices is essential to mitigate vulnerabilities and protect sensitive data. The role also requires the implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability. As an Assistant Vice President, the developer will consult on complex issues, provide advice to People Leaders, and identify ways to mitigate risk while developing new policies and procedures to support the control and governance agenda. The position may allow for telecommuting, providing flexibility in the work environment.
