About the position

Richelieu Hardware is seeking an Architecture & Design Specification Representative for the Syracuse, New York area. This role is pivotal in gathering and securing specifications from architects and designers to enhance market awareness of the Richelieu brand and drive sales growth. As a representative, you will collaborate closely with local sales representatives, managing various aspects of projects from the specification phase to the final sale closure. Your primary focus will be on building and nurturing relationships with both existing and prospective clients, positioning Richelieu as their go-to provider for specialty hardware and complementary products. In this position, you will be responsible for scheduling and conducting both face-to-face and virtual meetings with clients to understand their current and upcoming projects. You will gather specifications across a range of product categories, including decorative hardware, lighting, sliding door hardware, and premium panels. Analyzing past specification patterns will be crucial in identifying opportunities to strengthen your role as a supplier. Additionally, you will provide educational training on products and industry developments to the architecture and design community, ensuring that you deliver a state-of-the-art customer service experience. Staying informed about Richelieu's product offerings and the competitive landscape will be essential for your success. You will utilize sales support applications and systems, particularly focusing on effective use of CRM tools to manage client relationships and sales opportunities efficiently. This role not only emphasizes individual performance but also contributes to the overall success of the Richelieu team, which values innovation, customer focus, and ethical practices.

Responsibilities

  • Gather and secure specifications from architects and designers.
  • Coordinate project aspects from specification phase to sales closure.

Requirements

  • Successful experience as a Specification Representative or Designer (recent graduates with a design degree may be considered).
  • Ability to schedule and manage time effectively to produce results.
  • Proactive, high energy, coachable, and strong work ethic.
  • Developed design, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • University degree in Design is an asset.
