About the position

The Linux System Administrator position at Collins Aerospace involves managing, deploying, and maintaining classified IT infrastructures in a collaborative environment. The role requires expertise in Red Hat Linux systems and the ability to work with automation tools to support critical programs with classified information system capabilities. The successful candidate will contribute to the mission of making the world a safer place by ensuring secure and efficient IT operations.

Responsibilities

  • Administer Red Hat Linux based systems with minimal support, including patching, creating RPM packages, performance tuning, networking, user management (LDAP), and security.
  • Use and develop automation tools/frameworks such as Terraform, Ansible, and Chef.
  • Install, administer, and troubleshoot recent versions of VMware (ESXi and vCenter).
  • Collaborate with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements and provide documentation and training on advanced IT processes and procedures.
  • Develop solutions and documentation for a variety of technical problems.

Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Must have an active and transferable U.S. government issued Top Secret SCI security clearance with CI polygraph security clearance prior to start date.
  • Must have an active DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 certification (or higher) on start date.
  • Must have experience with Linux, hardware, troubleshooting, and scripting.
  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience administering Windows based systems.
  • Proficiency with Enterprise level administration of common services such as DNS and LDAP.
  • Strong analytic and research skills - must be detail oriented.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and troubleshoot problems with efficiency.
