About the position

The AS400 System Administrator will be responsible for managing and maintaining the IBM iSeries (AS400) systems within the IT team. This role focuses on ensuring the overall health and performance of the AS400 environment, including system administration, application support, network administration, and project management.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain IBM iSeries hardware and operating system software.
• Manage system resources, including memory, disk space, and CPU utilization.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues promptly.
• Implement and maintain system security measures to protect sensitive data.
• Perform regular system backups and disaster recovery procedures.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
• Install, configure, and maintain AS400-based applications.
• Provide technical support to users for application-related issues.
• Troubleshoot application performance problems and implement solutions.
• Configure and maintain network connectivity for AS400 systems.
• Troubleshoot network-related issues affecting AS400 operations.
• Participate in IT projects related to the AS400 environment, such as upgrades, migrations, and new implementations.
• Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure smooth integration of AS400 systems with other IT infrastructure components.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of IBM iSeries (AS400) operating system and hardware.
• Experience with RPG, CL, and SQL programming languages.
• Knowledge of network protocols and TCP/IP.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• ITIL or other IT service management certifications (preferred).
