About the position

Nexagen Networks Inc is seeking a dedicated System Administrator Associate to join our team at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ. The ideal candidate will be responsible for server support, which includes applying updates, making configuration changes, and performing routine backups. The role requires configuring servers based on user requirements and adhering to documented best practices. The System Administrator Associate will provide daily technical support to approximately 450 users, both via phone and desk-side assistance. In addition to daily support, the candidate will perform routine system updates, upgrades, and patch security vulnerabilities to ensure the integrity and security of our systems. The role also involves imaging new laptops through PXE booting and upgrading and migrating computers to new hardware. Maintaining accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps is crucial for this position. The candidate should possess proficiency in troubleshooting both hardware and software issues, along with good communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently is essential, along with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. An eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies is highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily phone and desk-side technical support for around 450 users.
  • Apply updates, configuration changes, and routine backups for server support.
  • Configure servers according to user requirements and documented best practices.
  • Perform routine system updates, upgrades, and patch security vulnerabilities.
  • Image new laptops through PXE booting.
  • Upgrade and migrate computers to new hardware.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with 2 to 3 years of professional experience.
  • Ability to obtain administrative privileges on supported systems including CompTIA Security+ within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Technical knowledge of Linux and Windows computing environments, protocols, networks, and Microsoft desktop applications.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • PowerShell scripting experience.
