About the position

The System Administrator, Associate position at Pedernales Electric Cooperative is responsible for the implementation, operation, and maintenance of the company's enterprise systems. This role involves managing Active Directory, troubleshooting enterprise systems, and assisting with server operating system deployments. The position requires a strong understanding of file systems, disaster recovery, and security protocols, while also ensuring the security of confidential information and staying updated on technological advancements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Active Directory object management
  • Maintain and troubleshoot enterprise systems
  • Assist with deployment of server operating systems including DNS, SSH, DHCP, SNMP, SFTP, and IIS
  • Understand the importance of file systems with backups and snapshots
  • Examine and solve issues reported by end users
  • Aid in recovery of computer resources through disaster prevention and recovery efforts
  • Install, configure, and support enterprise-wide software applications
  • Monitor systems and escalate security usability issues
  • Maintain both physical and virtual systems in different network segments
  • Assist with installation, upgrade, and configuration of hardware as needed
  • Assist with antivirus and endpoint security
  • Use and maintain documentation relevant to standardization of team practices and procedures
  • Assist with monitoring, updating, and configuration of systems
  • Maintain the security of confidential information
  • Stay abreast of advances in technology
  • Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance
  • Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • One year of database, network administration, or system administration experience
  • Directly related experience may substitute for education
  • Knowledge of using computers and computer systems, including hardware and software
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service
  • Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, SFTP, routing, e-mail, and other enterprise administration concerns
  • Knowledge of basic virtualization and deployment principles
  • Ability to follow technical instructions, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to solve system-related problems using diagnostic techniques and protocols
  • Skilled in time management and handling multiple tasks
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to listen to and understand information verbally and in writing.
