About the position

ECS is seeking a qualified System Administrator (HPC) (Junior) to support transformative science and technology solutions for the Department of Energy. The right candidate must be a skilled technician with knowledge to support a variety of technologies and software. Exceptional customer service skills, with technical knowledge of the architecture is preferred. You will be expected to work with minimal supervision to provide on-site system administrator and operations support. This position will require that you troubleshoot and diagnose system issues to provide rapid remediation. You will routinely interact with corporate stakeholders and others to communicate status, problems, and progress, updating the documentation to maintain relevance and applicability. Additionally, you will support continuous security monitoring, including participation in activities to maintain an appropriate security posture and perform package updates. Identifying areas of potential efficiency improvement, including the development of automated routines, will also be part of your responsibilities. You will troubleshoot performance degradation and engage in actively learning, deploying, and maintaining new technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site system administrator and operations support with minimal supervision.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose system issues for rapid remediation.
  • Interact with corporate stakeholders to communicate status, problems, and progress.
  • Update documentation to maintain relevance and applicability.
  • Support continuous security monitoring and maintain appropriate security posture.
  • Perform package updates and identify areas for efficiency improvement.
  • Develop automated routines for system management.
  • Troubleshoot performance degradation and system errors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field.
  • OR Associate's Degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field AND two years of related work experience.
  • OR Four years of related work experience.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret or DOE Q clearance throughout the life of the contract.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must currently live in Morgantown, WV or willing to relocate.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Active Top Secret or DOE Q Clearance with the ability to maintain clearance throughout the life of the contract.
  • Two or more years experience supporting US Government customers.
  • Project Management Professional certification.
  • Experience supporting complex government programs of a research and development nature.
  • Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and/or Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA) certifications.
  • Proficiency with BigFix (Endpoint management).
  • Proficiency with Antivirus software tools and analysis.
  • Experience administering Linux operating systems (e.g., RHEL, Debian, Centos, Fedora).
  • Experience scripting (i.e. Shell, Python, Perl) for system administration tasks.
  • Familiarity with the HPC ecosystem (e.g., schedulers, filesystems, compiler licenses).
