About the position

ECS is seeking a qualified System Administrator (HPC) (Senior) to support transformative science and technology solutions for the Department of Energy. This position is contingent upon contract award and will be based in our Morgantown, WV office. The System Administrator will supervise and manage the daily activities of configuration and operation of systems which may include mainframe, mini, or client/server based systems. The role involves planning and monitoring the optimization of system operation and resource utilization, as well as performing systems capacity analysis and planning. Additionally, the administrator will assist users in accessing and utilizing business systems effectively. Daily responsibilities will include administering VMware virtual environments, which encompass ESXi hosts, vCenter appliances, VxRail HCIs, and VSANs. The System Administrator will create and maintain detailed system documentation, provide system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance, and maintain current knowledge of rapidly changing technology. This includes being proactive in identifying new technologies and collaborating with management to evolve current processes. The role also requires downloading, staging, and deploying systems-related security policies and updates to ensure compliance with DISA security policies and procedures (STIGs, IAVAs, etc.). The position will involve developing scripts (PowerShell, VBScript, etc.) to automate recurring systems administration tasks, gather metrics, and perform installations. The administrator will also manage Microsoft Active Directory environments, focusing on Windows Server versions, Microsoft Exchange, Windows SharePoint, Microsoft SQL, group policy deployment, and SCCM configuration and administration. The role will require participation in special projects as assigned, ensuring that the systems are maintained and updated effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Administer VMware virtual environments including ESXi hosts, vCenter appliances, VxRail HCIs, and VSANs.
  • Create and maintain detailed system documentation.
  • Provide system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.
  • Maintain current knowledge of rapidly changing technology and work with management to evolve current processes.
  • Download, stage, and deploy systems-related security policies and updates to maintain compliance with DISA security policies and procedures.
  • Develop scripts (PowerShell, VBScript, etc.) to perform recurring systems administration tasks and automate installations.
  • Administer Microsoft Active Directory environments with emphasis on Windows Server, Microsoft Exchange, Windows SharePoint, Microsoft SQL, and group policy deployment.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field AND four years of related work experience AND one or more Linux/Cloud certifications (RHCSA, RHCE, RHCA, CompTIA Linux+, CompTIA Cloud+, LPIC, Cloud Architect/Engineer Certificate or relevant subject matter equivalent certification) OR Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field AND six years of related work experience AND one or more Linux/Cloud certifications OR Ten years of related work experience AND one or more Linux/Cloud certifications.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret or DOE Q clearance throughout the life of the contract.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must currently live in Morgantown, WV or be willing to relocate.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Active Top Secret or DOE Q Clearance with the ability to maintain clearance throughout the life of the contract.
  • Two or more years experience supporting US Government customers.
  • Project Management Professional certification.
  • Experience supporting complex government programs of a research and development nature.
