Additionally, the position involves training public safety personnel in the use of RMS, CAD, and MDT platforms. The essential job functions include establishing department standards related to public safety network software, server hardware, and network user access, all of which must adhere to established City Standards managed by Tech Services. The administrator will manage public safety hardware, propose upgrades, and seek continuous training to apply technical solutions to common problems. Responsibilities also include researching and recommending public safety network hardware and software, managing documentation of server hardware, investigating network-related problems, and serving as the point of contact for users with questions about the public safety network. The role requires performing various file and password services, training public safety employees on network applications, and assisting with the city-wide radio system and video system management. The administrator will also oversee the police building security access card system, ensuring compliance with CJIS security policies, and documenting procedures and solutions through various means such as flowcharts and diagrams. The position requires punctuality and timeliness in meeting performance requirements, including attendance standards and work deadlines, and the ability to operate a motor vehicle to conduct city business.
