About the position

As a Training Center / Laboratory Support System Administrator on our team, you will play a crucial role in providing the necessary support to operate and maintain all hardware and software in compliance with established policies required by the customer for their production and training networks. This position is essential for maximizing the effectiveness and efficiency of our country's most important missions, both at home and abroad. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining user accounts and help desk functions for staff and students, ensuring that all users have the access they need to perform their duties effectively. In this role, you will be expected to manage the daily activities of configuration and operation of IT systems, which includes user accounts and workstations. You will also assist users in accessing IT systems and provide support for the dispatch system, remaining involved in the resolution process. Your experience with various software and systems will be critical as the networks evolve, and you will be expected to stay updated with new technologies and tools. The Level 1 Systems Administrator will be required to provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution. You will also be involved in the installation and maintenance of computers, including tablets, laptops, and desktops, ensuring that all systems are functioning optimally. Your expertise in configuring and managing LINUX, UNIX, and Windows operating systems will be essential for troubleshooting and maintaining the IT infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support required to operate and maintain all hardware and software in compliance with established policies.
  • Establish and maintain user accounts and help desk functions for staff and students.
  • Manage daily activities of configuration and operation of IT systems, including user accounts and workstations.
  • Assist users in accessing IT systems and provide support for the dispatch system.
  • Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution.
  • Install and maintain computers, including tablets, laptops, and desktops.
  • Configure and manage LINUX, UNIX, and Windows operating systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or other related discipline plus at least 5 years of systems admin experience.
  • High school diploma or GED plus 10 years of systems admin experience is also acceptable.
  • Must meet DoD Directive 8570 IAM Level 1 requirements (Security + at a minimum).
  • Active Security Clearance with appropriate Polygraph.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Exchange 2013 and 2016.
  • Experience with User Activity Monitoring (UAM).
  • Experience with IBM Big Fix, VxRail, MS SharePoint, MS Active Directory, MS Windows Desktop Computing, Remote Desktop Management, MS PowerShell Integrated Scripting Engine (ISE).
  • Experience with MS Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, Access), Adobe Professional, Adobe Creative Cloud, Blackboard, Avaya phone systems, Cisco phone systems, Skype for business.
