About the position

The System Administrator II role is a critical position focused on supporting the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems to ensure the safety and security of the nation. This position involves managing system security controls, optimizing system operations, and providing in-depth troubleshooting for various IT systems, including server, storage, and network devices. The role requires effective communication and coordination with security officers and system owners to maintain compliance and enhance system performance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems.
  • Provide configuration management and sustainment of compliance with applicable system security controls.
  • Support day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for client/server/storage/network devices and mobile devices.
  • Implement IAVA security patches and ensure patch status is recorded in appropriate systems of record.
  • Support escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers.
  • Optimize system operations and resource utilization, performing system capacity analysis and planning.
  • Provide in-depth experience in troubleshooting IT systems.
  • Deliver detailed analysis and feedback to agency management and internal customers for escalated tickets.
  • Support the dispatch system and hardware problems, remaining involved in the resolution process.
  • Configure and manage UNIX, Linux, and Windows operating systems, installing and loading operating system software, and maintaining network components.
  • Communicate and coordinate with the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) and Information System Owner (ISO) regarding system changes.
  • Support the ISO by completing required milestones of Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&M) and coordinating completion status with the ISSO.
  • Ensure IT Assets remain compliant with Identity & Access Control Management (ICAM) policy.
  • Provide Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution of problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university, or four (4) years of additional SA experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Ten (10) years of experience as a System Administrator in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • DoD 8570 compliance Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification.
