About the position

The System Administrator II plays a crucial role in the technical operations of the organization, focusing on the installation, configuration, and support of departmental servers, personal computers (PCs), peripherals, and the software applications necessary for their operation. This position requires a proactive approach to troubleshooting and resolving performance issues related to applications, servers, and PCs. The System Administrator will rely on established guidelines and instructions to perform their duties effectively, ensuring that all systems are functioning optimally and efficiently. In addition to technical support, the System Administrator II is responsible for recommending upgrades and patches for existing applications and equipment, as well as identifying new software applications that could enhance operational efficiency. This role also involves providing technical guidance to users, helping them navigate any issues they may encounter with their systems. Furthermore, the System Administrator will be tasked with purchasing technology-related equipment and software, ensuring that the department is equipped with the necessary tools to perform their functions. The ideal candidate for this position will have a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field, along with 2-3 years of relevant experience. A solid understanding of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the IT field is essential. The role requires the ability to travel between multiple locations, and reliable transportation is a must. Additionally, the System Administrator must be available for after-hours on-call support and be prepared to provide technical assistance 24/7 as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, configures, and supports all departmental servers, PCs, peripherals, and software applications.
  • Troubleshoots application, server, and PC performance issues.
  • Recommends upgrades and patches for applications and equipment, as well as new software applications.
  • Provides technical support and guidance to users.
  • Purchases technology-related equipment and software.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related area of specialty preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience in the field or in a related field.
  • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within an Information Technology related field.
  • Ability to travel between multiple locations; reliable transportation is required.
  • Availability to serve on an after-hours on-call support rotation.
  • Must be available 24x7 for technical support as required.
