About the position

The System Administrator III at William C Brown Inc is responsible for providing technical support for the intelligence customer's system test and integration lab, as well as the customer production environment. This role involves hands-on support for IT infrastructure, system administration, and technical assistance to on-site administrators. The position requires excellent troubleshooting skills, particularly with Cisco and Juniper devices, and a strong understanding of system monitoring and optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on support for the IT infrastructure and technical assistance to on-site administrators.
  • Prepare documentation and other technical deliverables with excellent writing skills.
  • Troubleshoot Cisco and Juniper switches and routers.
  • Organize and direct the configuration and operation of information management systems.
  • Perform day-to-day system administration including system and resource optimization, and user assistance.
  • Maintain servers and create and review monitoring reports and logs.
  • Conduct daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of hardware and server resources.
  • Provide hands-on guidance and training to junior staff.
  • Apply OS patches for RHEL and Windows servers.
  • Configure and add new services as required.
  • Conduct ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization.
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify vulnerabilities and possible intrusions.
  • Set up and manage daily backup operations, ensuring successful backups of file systems and system data.

Requirements

  • Must have a TS SCI CI poly security clearance.
  • 16 years of experience in a related field, which can be a combination of work history and education.
  • Compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2.
  • Ability to process and analyze information and trouble calls submitted by customers.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision to perform complex technical tasks.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting network routing and router/switches.
  • Experience in building and operating Linux RHEL systems and MS Windows Server systems.
  • Experience in managing virtual environments including virtual servers and routers.
  • Understanding of DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) information security requirements and standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience with automated tools and scripts to increase system administrator efficiency.
  • Ability to conduct capacity and performance analysis.
