About the position

Battelle is currently seeking a Lead Machine Learning Scientist to join our team in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. This position is integral to our Aviation Security Division, which focuses on research, development, testing, and evaluation of advanced technologies. The Lead Machine Learning Scientist will be responsible for leading projects that involve the application of machine learning techniques to enhance aviation security measures. This role requires a deep understanding of machine learning algorithms, data analysis, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions that address current and emerging security challenges in the aviation sector. In this position, you will be expected to design and implement machine learning models, conduct experiments to validate their effectiveness, and refine these models based on feedback and performance metrics. You will also be responsible for mentoring junior scientists and collaborating with other researchers to foster a culture of innovation and excellence within the team. The role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively. Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of machine learning models for aviation security applications.

Requirements

  • PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field with a focus on machine learning.
  • 5+ years of experience in machine learning, data analysis, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java.
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the aviation or security industry.
