About the position

Join the ASEC team at NAWS China Lake, CA as a Junior System Administrator. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of an important DoD program that has a direct impact on our nation's Warfighter. This is a junior role that will offer you valuable experience and growth potential. The position is 100% on-site, and telework is not an option. As a Junior System Administrator, you will work under the guidance of more senior System Administrators, gaining hands-on experience in a critical area of national defense. You will be involved in the implementation of operating systems and network devices security configurations, ensuring compliance with established security protocols. This role is essential for maintaining the integrity and security of the systems that support our military operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation of operating systems and network devices security configuration in accordance with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) approved Security Technical Implementation Guides.
• Help administer boundary devices such as managed switches, proxy servers, routers, firewalls, cryptography, and intrusion detection systems.
• Perform vulnerability assessments using Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) and DISA Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG).
• Correct flaws and implement technical controls in the hardware or software installed within a network environment.
• Manage DoD Host-Based-Security Systems (HBSS).

Requirements

• Basic understanding of operating systems and network devices.
• Familiarity with security protocols and compliance standards, particularly DISA STIGs.
• Ability to perform vulnerability assessments and implement security measures.
• Knowledge of boundary devices such as routers, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS).
• Familiarity with Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) Compliance Checker.
• Understanding of DoD Host-Based-Security Systems (HBSS).
