About the position

DarkStar Intelligence is seeking System Administrators at Levels 0, 1, and 2 to provide Cross Domain Service Solutions across over 40 system domains. This position is based in Annapolis Junction, MD, and is a full-time role requiring a Top Secret/SCI security clearance with a Full Scope Polygraph. As a System Administrator, you will be responsible for the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems, ensuring the smooth operation of IT infrastructure and processes related to these systems. You will support IT systems through day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for various devices including client/server/storage/network devices and mobile devices. Your role will involve providing Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) support, identifying, diagnosing, and resolving problems. You will also be responsible for escalating issues and communicating status updates to agency management and internal customers. Additionally, you will manage the daily activities of configuration and operation of IT systems, assist users in accessing and utilizing IT systems, and optimize system operations and resource utilization. This position requires a proactive approach to system capacity analysis and planning, ensuring that all systems are functioning efficiently and effectively. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing UNIX and Windows operating systems, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of these systems. You will be expected to implement operating system enhancements to improve reliability and performance, as well as provide support for the dispatch system and hardware problems, remaining involved in the resolution process. This role is critical in maintaining the integrity and performance of IT systems within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems.
  • Manage IT system infrastructure and related processes.
  • Support day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for client/server/storage/network devices and mobile devices.
  • Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution.
  • Support escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers.
  • Manage daily activities of configuration and operation of IT systems.
  • Assist users in accessing and using IT systems.
  • Optimize system operations and resource utilization and perform system capacity analysis and planning.

Requirements

  • Current Top Secret/SCI w/Polygraph is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required (or equivalent experience).
  • For Level 1: Five (5) years' experience as a System Administrator in similar programs and contracts is required.
  • For Level 1: Three (3) years' experience in the design, installation, configuration, and sustainment of a Red Hat Linux (RHEL) environment is required.
  • For Level 1: Three (3) years' experience in creating automation scripts using bash/Perl is required.
  • For Level 1: One (1) year experience in implementing OS level clustering is required.
  • For Level 1: Three (3) years' experience performing Puppet system administration is required.
  • For Level 1: Three (3) years' experience installing software from YUM repositories, RPM Files, or source code is required.
  • For Level 1: Three (3) years' experience in researching and applying IAVA patches is required.
  • For Level 1: Three (3) years' experience using Unix/Linux command line is required.
  • For Level 1: Three (3) years' experience with VMWare is required.
  • For Level 2: Twelve (12) years' experience as a System Administrator in similar programs and contracts is required.
  • For Level 2: Ten (10) years' experience in the design, installation, configuration, and sustainment of a Red Hat Linux (RHEL) environment is required.
  • For Level 2: Ten (10) years' experience in creating automation scripts using well-known scripting languages is required.
  • For Level 2: Three (3) years' experience in implementing OS level clustering is required.
  • For Level 2: Five (5) years' experience performing Puppet system administration is required.
  • For Level 2: Five (5) years' experience installing software from YUM repositories, RPM Files, or source code is required.
  • For Level 2: Ten (10) years' experience in researching and applying IAVA patches is required.
  • For Level 2: Eight (8) years' experience using Unix/Linux command line is required.
  • For Level 2: Five (5) years' experience with VMWare architecture and installation is required.
