Akima Systems Engineering (ASE) is seeking a System Administrator with expertise in Linux to join our team in Honolulu, Hawaii. This position is critical for the comprehensive management of over 60 servers across various networks and security classifications. The Linux Subject Matter Expert (SME) will play a vital role in ensuring the operations, confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information assets in accordance with established IT standards and procedures. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and updating Linux/UNIX systems, specifically RedHat 7 and newer, while managing applications such as BIND DNS, ACAS, SMTP Relay, SPLUNK, and APACHE. This role requires a proactive approach to ensure compliance with the Department of Defense (DoD) Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) requirements and maintaining Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliance. In addition to system management, the Linux SME will monitor security and performance logs, respond to ServiceNow tickets, and participate in technical meetings to provide expert recommendations. The role also involves the development and maintenance of custom scripts, Kickstart deployment files, and Linux/UNIX Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring that systems are adequately backed up and restored according to DoD and agency policies. Collaboration with developers to create workflows for Linux-based assets in ServiceNow is essential, as is the use of Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) for security monitoring and managing Continuity of Operations (COOP) testing and documentation. This position requires an active TS/SCI clearance and a minimum of three years of experience in managing, supporting, patching, backing up, and restoring Linux/UNIX systems and applications in a DoD environment. The ideal candidate will have experience securing systems in accordance with Federal and DoD regulations, managing BIND DNS, and working in a Virtual Machine Operating Environment (VOE) like VMware. The ability to work occasional after-hours and weekends to support service outages is also necessary, along with the requirement to provide monthly status reports detailing accomplishments and ongoing issues.
