About the position

Tuvli is seeking a Systems Engineer to join their team in Alexandria, VA. This role involves the administration and upgrade of VMware vSphere and vSAN, management of Dell PowerEdge servers, and oversight of Active Directory and Group Policy. The position requires a strong understanding of enterprise server systems and the ability to troubleshoot and repair various technical issues, ensuring optimal performance across multiple sites.

Responsibilities

  • Administration/upgrade of VMware vSphere and vSAN, versions 6.7, 7, and 8.
  • Administration of ESXi hosts and updating of ESXi hosts.
  • Monitor utilization and performance of VMs across several sites.
  • Administration/repair of Dell PowerEdge gen 13, 14, 16 servers.
  • Monitor all servers for failed hardware and work with Logistics for replacement parts via warranty.
  • Work with remote personnel to replace parts as needed.
  • Administration of enterprise-wide Active Directory and Group Policy.
  • Administration of Microsoft domain controllers including promotion, demotion, and deployment of read-only domain controllers.
  • Create and modify existing GPOs as needed to support applications and server deployments and upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot group policy issues/conflicts.
  • Upgrade Windows Server 2012R2 to Windows Server 2019/2022.
  • Build replacement systems in advance of migration and coordinate with post and application teams for cutover.
  • Execute PowerShell scripts to complete migration tasks.
  • Administration of Symantec EndPoint Protection Manager and client.
  • Update virus definition files and license files on an air-gapped network.
  • Troubleshoot server and client issues.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience within a WAN/LAN environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair enterprise server/workstation systems and Microsoft Windows domain environments including Active Directory.
  • Understanding and administration of VMware vSphere, Dell PowerEdge servers, and Microsoft Active Directory/Group Policy.
  • Knowledge of network fundamentals and security protocols of technical systems.
  • Technical certification is a plus.
  • A degree in computer science or a related discipline is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SCCM/MECM.
  • Experience with Avamar Virtual Edition/Data Domain Virtual Edition.
  • Knowledgeable of telecommunications protocols and router switch configurations.
