About the position

ECS is seeking a skilled System Administrator to work in our Macon, GA office. This position is contingent upon contract award. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in installing and configuring hardware and software, monitoring system performance, and troubleshooting issues. The role requires a solid understanding of core infrastructure services and functions, including virtualization (VMWare), DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory. Proficiency in scripting and automation tools, as well as knowledge of key Azure cloud services, is essential. The System Administrator will be responsible for administering Windows Server in an enterprise environment, deploying services in Microsoft Azure and VMware environments, and leading successful deployments of enterprise-class solutions. Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary, along with a team-focused attitude and the ability to produce technical documents and engineering diagrams. The candidate should have a demonstrable history of leading successful deployments and be skilled at producing technical documentation. In addition to the required skills, the System Administrator will be expected to install new hardware and software, ensuring all components interface correctly with each other and the network. They will configure and maintain back-end infrastructure systems such as VMware, ESX, NetApp, and Server Enclosures, ensuring systems are up-to-date and patched. The role also involves deploying and maintaining Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) systems for certificate management and administering data storage for multiple NetApp storage systems, ensuring data availability, protection, and capacity planning across multiple SANs. The candidate will also be responsible for deploying and maintaining Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) platforms, including Azure Virtual Desktop, designing and implementing secure DNS solutions, and supporting multiple VMware vSphere and NSX environments. Operating systems within VMware and Azure cloud environments, designing and maintaining Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) configurations, and engineering upgrades and enhancements involving all IT infrastructure are also key responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Install and configure hardware and software, ensuring all components interface correctly with each other and the network.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Administer Windows Server in an enterprise environment.
  • Deploy services in Microsoft Azure and VMware environments.
  • Lead successful deployments of enterprise-class solutions.
  • Produce technical documents and engineering diagrams.

  • Deploy and maintain Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) systems for certificate management.
  • Administer data storage for multiple NetApp storage systems, ensuring data availability, protection, and capacity planning across multiple SANs.
  • Deploy and maintain Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) platforms, including Azure Virtual Desktop.
  • Design, implement, and maintain secure DNS solutions.
  • Support and maintain multiple VMware vSphere and NSX environments.
  • Operate systems within VMware and Azure cloud environments.
  • Design, implement, and maintain Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) configurations.
  • Engineer and implement designs related to upgrades and enhancements involving all IT infrastructure, including servers, Active Directory, DNS, SAN, virtualization, and network monitoring tools.
  • Administer Azure Cloud services, including Entra ID, Azure Automation, and other cloud services.
  • Administer Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Point Online, OneDrive, and Teams.
  • Manage mail routing and maintain Exchange connectors.
  • Deploy and maintain Active Directory Federation Services and Azure Active Directory Connect.
  • Design, implement, and maintain Access Packages within Azure Active Directory to control access.
  • Manage Teams phone and administer OPM's Teams Calling solution.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in system administration.
  • Experience installing and configuring hardware and software.
  • Proficiency in monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues.
  • Knowledge of core infrastructure services and functions, including virtualization (VMWare), DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools.
  • Knowledge of key Azure cloud services.
  • Experience administering Windows Server in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience working in and deploying services in Microsoft Azure and VMware environments.
  • Demonstrable history of leading successful deployments of enterprise-class solutions.
  • Skilled at producing technical documents and engineering diagrams.
