About the position

The System Administrator at Praxis Engineering plays a crucial role in supporting the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems. This position is integral to managing the IT system infrastructure and overseeing all processes related to these systems. The System Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for a variety of devices including client/server/storage/network devices and mobile devices. This role encompasses providing Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) support, which involves identifying, diagnosing, and resolving problems effectively. Additionally, the System Administrator will support the escalation and communication of status updates to agency management and internal customers, ensuring that all issues are addressed promptly and efficiently. In this position, the System Administrator will also be involved in the dispatch system for hardware problems and will remain engaged throughout the resolution process. The role requires configuring and managing both UNIX and Windows operating systems, installing and loading operating system software, troubleshooting issues, maintaining system integrity, and configuring network components. Furthermore, the System Administrator will implement operating system enhancements aimed at improving reliability and performance, ensuring that the IT systems operate at optimal levels. Responsibilities

  • Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems.
  • Manage IT system infrastructure and related processes.
  • Support day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for client/server/storage/network devices and mobile devices.
  • Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution.
  • Support escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers.
  • Assist in the dispatch system for hardware problems and remain involved in the resolution process.
  • Configure and manage UNIX and Windows operating systems.
  • Install and load operating system software, troubleshoot, and maintain system integrity.
  • Configure network components and implement operating system enhancements to improve reliability and performance.

Requirements

  • Ten (10) years of experience as a System Administrator on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required (or five additional years of SA experience may substitute for a bachelor's degree).
  • Experience with VMWare, Linux/Windows OS, Active Directory, Patching (Satellite and WSUS), File Transfers, Account Management, and Networking skills.
  • CompTIA Security+ CE certification is required.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with an appropriate polygraph is required.
