GovCIO is currently hiring for a System Administrator for our HUD proposal. The System Administrator is responsible for establishing and maintaining the smooth operation of computer systems, which includes operating systems, software, and hardware in both networked and stand-alone configurations. This role is crucial for maintaining system integrity and upgrading systems and/or servers as required. The position is fully remote, allowing for flexibility in work location while ensuring that the necessary IT infrastructure is effectively managed and supported. In this role, the System Administrator may create and document new methods to support network/system operations and implement changes to procedures as needed. The position involves consulting with support teams, help desks, customers, and other technical staff to resolve problems. The System Administrator will coordinate and perform operation and maintenance activities for networks and servers, identify recurring problems, and recommend steps to reduce the severity or frequency of these issues. Additionally, the System Administrator will plan for the transition of development and/or production environments to new technologies. This includes utilizing system software to monitor the performance of system files, managing system data to maintain performance efficiencies, and studying system requirements to determine proper server installation methods and procedures. The role also requires maintaining and administering computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations. Security is a key aspect of this position, as the System Administrator will plan, coordinate, and implement network/system security measures to protect data, software, and hardware. Regular monitoring and analysis regarding short and long-range planning for in-house systems will also be part of the responsibilities. The System Administrator will prepare or ensure that appropriate documentation exists, including operational instructions, and may write or modify basic scripts to resolve performance problems and automate administrative tasks. Furthermore, the role involves recommending changes to improve systems and network configurations and determining hardware or software requirements related to such changes. The System Administrator will also design, build, customize, and enhance applications while providing support to the user community and customers through a thorough understanding of application requirements.
