About the position

Canvas is seeking a System Administrator to support the Joint Navigation Warfare Center (JNWC) contract. This role involves ensuring the reliable operation of computer systems and networks, providing technical support, and maintaining cybersecurity compliance. The System Administrator will work closely with various teams to enhance the Department of Defense's navigation warfare mission, focusing on positioning, navigation, and timing superiority.

Responsibilities

  • Support the DevOps team by providing routine OS, software, and application support.
  • Track, version, deploy, and roll back database changes to production and development databases.
  • Maintain, configure, and ensure the reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization.
  • Provide documentation and technical specifications for planning and implementing IT infrastructure upgrades.
  • Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement processes for data protection and disaster recovery.
  • Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance.
  • Configure databases to meet cybersecurity requirements and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Automate and standardize repetitive tasks with version-controlled scripts and procedures.
  • Analyze and write complex queries to support metrics gathering and troubleshooting application issues.
  • Work closely with development, test, and operations teams to troubleshoot build breaks and enforce software quality standards.
  • Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.
  • May require CONUS/OCONUS travel and shift work supporting operations, exercises, and conferences.

Requirements

  • 5 - 7 years of relevant Systems Administration experience
  • BA/BS in a related field
  • Must have either CompTIA Server +, CompTIA Security+, or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), or an equivalent certification
  • Prior leadership or management experience (desired)
  • Current TS/SCI clearance
