GovCIO is currently hiring for a System Administrator for our HUD proposal. The System Administrator is responsible for establishing and maintaining the smooth operation of computer systems, which includes operating systems, software, and hardware in both networked and stand-alone configurations. This role is crucial for maintaining system integrity and upgrading systems and/or servers as required. The position is fully remote, allowing for flexibility in work location while ensuring that all systems function optimally. In this role, the System Administrator may create and document new methods to support network/system operations and implement changes to procedures as necessary. They will consult with support teams, help desks, customers, and other technical staff to resolve problems, coordinating and performing operation and/or maintenance activities for networks and servers. Identifying recurring problems and recommending steps to reduce their severity or frequency is a key responsibility. The System Administrator will also plan for the transition of development and/or production environments to new technologies, utilizing system software to monitor the performance of system files. They will manage system data to maintain performance efficiencies and study system requirements to determine proper server installation methods and procedures. Additionally, they will maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations. Security is a significant aspect of this role; the System Administrator will plan, coordinate, and implement network/system security measures to protect data, software, and hardware. Regular monitoring and analysis regarding short and long-range planning for in-house systems will be part of their duties, along with ensuring that appropriate documentation exists, including operational instructions. They may also write or modify basic scripts to resolve performance problems and automate administrative tasks, recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes. Finally, they will design, build, customize, and enhance applications while providing support to the user community and customers by understanding application requirements.
