GovCIO is currently seeking a System Administrator for our HUD proposal. This role is crucial in establishing and maintaining the smooth operation of computer systems, which includes managing operating systems, software, and hardware in both networked and stand-alone configurations. The System Administrator will be responsible for maintaining system integrity and performing necessary upgrades to systems and servers as required. This position is fully remote, allowing for flexibility while ensuring that the essential functions of the role are met effectively. The System Administrator will also be tasked with creating and documenting new methods that support network and system operations, implementing changes to procedures as needed. This involves consulting with support teams, help desks, customers, and other technical staff to resolve problems efficiently. The role requires coordination and performance of operation and maintenance activities for networks and servers, identifying recurring issues, and recommending solutions to reduce the severity or frequency of these problems. In addition, the System Administrator will plan for the transition of development and production environments to new technologies. This includes utilizing system software to monitor the performance of system files, managing system data to maintain performance efficiencies, and studying system requirements to determine the proper installation methods and procedures for servers. The role also involves maintaining and administering computer networks and related computing environments, including hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations. Security is a key aspect of this position; the System Administrator will plan, coordinate, and implement network and system security measures to protect data, software, and hardware. Regular monitoring and analysis regarding short and long-range planning for in-house systems will be part of the responsibilities, along with ensuring that appropriate documentation exists, including operational instructions. The System Administrator will also write or modify basic scripts to resolve performance problems and automate administrative tasks. Recommendations for changes to improve systems and network configurations will be expected, as well as determining hardware or software requirements related to such changes. Finally, the role includes designing, building, customizing, and enhancing applications while providing support to the user community and customers by understanding their application requirements.
