About the position

ECS is seeking a qualified Systems Administrator (Junior) to support transformative science and technology solutions for the Department of Energy. In this position, you will assist with the daily activities of configuration and operation of systems which may be mainframe, mini, or client/server based. Your role will involve optimizing system operation and resource utilization, performing system capacity analysis and planning, and providing assistance to users in accessing and using business systems. This position is contingent upon contract award, and it is essential to be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret or DOE Q clearance throughout the life of the contract. As a Junior Systems Administrator, you will be expected to work both independently and as part of a team. You will have the opportunity to engage with various technologies, including cloud-based systems and tools such as Azure and AWS, as well as VMWare environments. Your responsibilities will also include managing user accounts within Microsoft Active Directory, troubleshooting Windows Server issues, and ensuring the security of file sharing and folder access. Strong communication skills are crucial, as you will be responsible for documenting problem resolutions for Tier 1 and Tier 2 technicians. Responsibilities

  • Assist with the daily activities of configuration and operation of systems which may be mainframe, mini, or client/server based.
  • Optimize system operation and resource utilization.
  • Perform system capacity analysis and planning.
  • Provide assistance to users in accessing and using business systems.
  • Manage user accounts within Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Troubleshoot Windows Server issues and network connectivity issues.
  • Document problem resolutions for Tier 1 / 2 technicians.
  • Provide technical guidance for the implementation of endpoint protection tools.

Requirements

  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret or DOE Q clearance throughout the life of the contract.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Bachelor's Degree or Associate's Degree AND two years of related work experience or four years of related work experience.
  • Must currently live in Morgantown, WV or willing to relocate.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • 2 to 3 years' experience as a junior systems administrator.
  • Experience with cloud-based systems and tools (e.g., Azure, AWS, SSO, etc.).
  • Experience with VMWare (vCenter and View).
  • Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Knowledge of basic network principles and functions (e.g., DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft folder, file, and sharing security.
  • Experience installing and configuring Windows Server operating systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting Windows applications and application deployments.
  • Strong written, oral, and telephone communication skills.
  • Excellent technical writing skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two or more years experience supporting US Government customers.
  • Project Management Professional certification.
  • Experience supporting complex government and programs of a research and development nature.
