About the position

The Lead System Administrator will support the Department of Defense (DoD) as part of an Army Task Order, providing system, network, and database administration to maintain and operate an enclave of the Defense Research and Engineering Network (DREN). This role involves working with a highly virtualized infrastructure to facilitate software development within a DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) approved network, requiring problem-solving skills and technical expertise in various systems and software.

Responsibilities

  • Support system administration, network administration, and database administration for the DREN enclave.
  • Work with a highly virtualized infrastructure to enable software development.
  • Utilize problem-solving skills to address IT challenges related to Active Directory, Windows Servers, VMware vSphere, and Red Hat Linux.
  • Provide support to customers and team members in resolving IT issues.
  • Monitor system configurations and server event logs.
  • Develop procedures for server backups and test operating system and networking software.

Requirements

  • Active DoD Secret clearance.
  • Experience with VMware vSphere administration.
  • Experience with Red Hat Linux or other Linux variants.
  • Experience working with and reporting on DISA STIGs.
  • Experience with Enterprise Storage solutions (HP, Exagrid, NetApp).
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, and TCP/IP.
  • Experience managing servers, including installation and upgrades.
  • Experience providing software support for laptops, desktops, and printers.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field (Advanced degree preferred).
  • 5 years of experience or 4 additional years of applicable experience with appropriate certifications may substitute for the degree.
  • IAT Level II Certification (e.g., CCNA Security, CSA+, GICSP, GSEC, Sec+CE, SSCP).
