About the position

The System Administrator (SA) position at SAIC involves supporting the Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) team, specifically focusing on the Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS) and Advanced Arresting Gear (AAG). The role requires a blend of technical skills to implement, troubleshoot, and maintain various systems, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and problem resolution for client/server/storage/network devices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the program including day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for all client/server/storage/network devices.
  • Install, configure, and manage Linux/Windows operating system clients/servers and troubleshoot issues.
  • Perform database administrative functions and basic scripting procedures.
  • Harden server installations and install Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA) alerts/patches for clients/servers as required.
  • Analyze user interfaces, maintain hardware and software performance tuning, and analyze workload and computer usage.
  • Maintain interfaces with outside systems, analyze downtimes, and analyze proposed system modifications, upgrades, and new COTS.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field is required.
  • At least 5 years' experience performing a majority of the system administration functions listed.
  • Experience with the Atlassian suite of software collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence, Compass).
  • Experience with Software Development System Administration Skills (Linux & Windows Operating Systems).
  • Experience with relational database management systems (MySQL, SQLite, PostgreSQL).
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • An Interim Secret clearance will need to be obtained prior to start date.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Ethernet 10/100baseT and/or 100base FX.
  • Familiarity with Protocols such as User Datagram Protocol (UDP), Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), and IP Multicast Routing.
