About the position

The System Administrator at Canvas will support the Joint Navigation Warfare Center (JNWC) contract, focusing on enhancing the Department of Defense's navigation warfare mission. This role involves maintaining and configuring computer systems, network servers, and virtualization, while ensuring reliable operations and compliance with cybersecurity requirements. The position requires collaboration with various teams to troubleshoot issues and implement upgrades, contributing to the overall success of NAVWAR operations.

Responsibilities

  • Support the DevOps team by providing routine OS, software, and application support.
  • Track, version, deploy, and roll back database changes to production and development databases.
  • Maintain, configure, and ensure the reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization.
  • Provide documentation and technical specifications for planning and implementing IT infrastructure upgrades.
  • Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement data protection and disaster recovery processes.
  • Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance.
  • Configure databases to meet cybersecurity requirements and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Automate and standardize repetitive tasks with version-controlled scripts and procedures.
  • Analyze and write complex queries to support metrics gathering and troubleshooting application issues.
  • Work closely with development, test, and operations teams to troubleshoot build breaks and enforce software quality standards.
  • Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.
  • May require CONUS/OCONUS travel and shift work supporting operations, exercises, and conferences.

Requirements

  • 5 - 7 years of relevant Systems Administration experience
  • BA/BS in a related field
  • Must have either CompTIA Server +, CompTIA Security+, or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), or an equivalent certification
  • Prior leadership or management experience (desired)
  • Current TS/SCI clearance
