Regular monitoring and analysis regarding short and long-range planning for in-house systems will be part of the responsibilities, along with ensuring that appropriate documentation exists, including operational instructions. The System Administrator will also write or modify basic scripts to resolve performance problems and automate administrative tasks. They will recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes.
