About the position

As a Systems Administrator at CyraCom, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our computing applications and resources are both efficient and effective. Your understanding of the importance of these resources will directly contribute to the quality of service we provide to our customers. You will embody the spirit of collaboration, guiding your daily interactions and behaviors to foster a supportive team environment. In this role, you will balance tactical execution with strategic thinking, gradually shifting towards a higher percentage of project work. This position is permanently remote, with occasional travel required to various sites across the US. In your day-to-day responsibilities, you will serve as an escalation path for our user base, delivering accurate and responsive resolutions to helpdesk requests, either individually or collaboratively. You will propose and implement practical improvement ideas that enhance our computing applications and resources, as well as the overall technology team and company. Monitoring performance will be a key aspect of your role, as you will need to notify and remediate issues related to critical business processes involving servers, services, hardware, software, and peripherals. You will maintain, support, and improve company servers, data storage, backup services, and back-end applications at all new and existing sites. As a subject matter expert in your domain, you will stay informed about technology trends and best practices. You will drive software management, including updates, permissions, troubleshooting, and actively participate in new purchase decisions. Promoting individual and team growth will be essential, as you will transfer knowledge bi-directionally through training sessions and informal conversations. Recognizing the importance of proper documentation, you will update existing procedures and create new ones as necessary. Your willingness to work nights and weekends occasionally will ensure that you can support the business effectively. Thriving in a team environment, you will enjoy collaborating with IT resources, Project Managers, Sales, Marketing, and Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an escalation path to support our user base by delivering accurate and responsive resolution to helpdesk requests individually or collaboratively.
  • Propose and implement practical improvement ideas that enhance our computing applications, computing resources, the technology team and the company.
  • Actively monitor performance and notify and remediate issues of critical business processes related to servers, services, hardware, software, and peripherals.

  • Be a subject matter expert for your domain by staying on top of technology trends and best practices.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of progressively responsible network and server management experience.
  • Enhanced knowledge of MS Server 2019/2021, Windows 10/11, MS Active Directory, TCP/IP Protocols, Group Policies, IIS Administration, Help Desk software, MS Exchange, MS SharePoint, MS Teams, and Office 365.
  • Enhanced knowledge of data backup technology, scripting languages (ansible, powershell), internet filtering software and other monitoring software.
  • Enhanced knowledge of Microsoft environments and MS Office applications.
  • Enhanced knowledge of application software, anti-virus and OS patch management.
  • Possess a High School diploma, GED or equivalent, with some post-secondary education.

Nice-to-haves

  • Graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or directly related field.
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE).
