About the position

The System Administrator at Rio Grande Credit Union is responsible for overseeing and coordinating activities related to system, network, and computer operations. This role focuses on ensuring optimal system performance, security, and availability while fostering a member-focused environment. The System Administrator will handle various technical tasks, including system installation, user management, and troubleshooting, while also contributing to a culture of quality and member service.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and configure servers, operating systems, and applications to meet organizational needs.
  • Create and manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls for various systems and applications.
  • Continuously monitor system performance, security, and availability to ensure optimal operation.
  • Implement and manage backup solutions, perform regular data backups, and develop disaster recovery plans.
  • Apply system updates, patches, and security fixes to maintain system integrity and address vulnerabilities.
  • Oversee network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls, to ensure connectivity and security.
  • Provide technical support for hardware, software, and network issues, and resolve problems efficiently.
  • Implement and manage security measures, such as firewalls, antivirus software, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of system configurations, procedures, and incidents to support effective system management and troubleshooting.
  • Optimize system performance through adjustments, upgrades, and enhancements to meet performance goals.
  • Ensure systems comply with organizational policies and industry regulations and perform regular audits to verify compliance.
  • Assess and plan for future system needs, including hardware and software requirements, to accommodate growth.
  • Develop and implement scripts and automation tools to streamline administrative tasks and improve efficiency.
  • Work with other IT professionals and departments to support integrated solutions and address cross-functional challenges.

Requirements

  • 2 to 5 years of related experience in system administration or IT support.
  • 2-year degree or completion of a specialized course of study OR 5 years of related experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Knowledge of Symitar's, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with network administration and security management.
  • Familiarity with backup and recovery solutions.
  • Knowledge of compliance and auditing processes.
