About the position
The Resident Engineer will provide ongoing System Administration and maintenance services at the customer site, working closely with the customer IT and Communications Center staff. This position focuses on the Hexagon Public Safety Dispatch and Mobile systems, involving troubleshooting and maintenance of Hexagon Public Safety software, as well as providing technical support, installation, and configuration of the software. Responsibilities also include SQL Server Database Maintenance, data loading, backup, and purging. General System Administration duties such as installing operating system service packs, maintaining user accounts, and deploying system and file updates are also part of the role. Participation in upgrades, maintenance releases, and service packs is expected. Additionally, the resident will have a role in Map/GIS as it relates to the Hexagon Public Safety software.
Responsibilities
- Provide ongoing System Administration and maintenance services.
- Work alongside customer IT and Communications Center staff.
- Troubleshoot and maintain Hexagon Public Safety software.
- Provide technical support and installation of Hexagon Public Safety software.
- Perform SQL Server Database Maintenance, including data loading, backup, and purging.
- Install operating system service packs and maintain user accounts.
- Deploy system and file updates.
- Participate in upgrades, maintenance releases, and service packs.
- Coordinate with Hexagon Support Analysts to resolve system and software issues.
- Undertake issue resolution and troubleshooting of end-user problems.
- Provide informal training for customer staff in system administration activities.
- Maintain detailed documentation on the system and configuration.
Requirements
- Experience with Hexagon Public Safety software and systems.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in system administration.
- Knowledge of SQL Server Database Maintenance.
- Ability to install and configure software and operating systems.
- Experience in providing technical support to end-users.
- Familiarity with Map/GIS as it relates to Hexagon Public Safety software.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in user interface configuration work.
- Previous experience in a customer support role.
