About the position

The System Analyst (Energy Management Systems) role at Cloud BC Labs involves supporting and maintaining the Energy Management Systems (EMS) at two control centers. This position focuses on ensuring the reliability and efficiency of EMS applications, troubleshooting issues, and implementing system enhancements. The analyst will work closely with end users and software vendors to design and implement information systems that meet organizational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Support and maintenance of the 24x7 Energy Management Systems (EMS) at two control centers.
  • Timely update of the state estimator, contingency analysis, and power flow.
  • Analyze, design, and implement information systems related to Energy Management Systems.
  • Assess the suitability of information systems and liaise with end users, software vendors, and programmers.
  • Use analysis and design techniques to solve business problems with information technology.
  • Identify organizational improvements and design systems to implement changes.
  • Provide operations support, troubleshooting, integration testing, and user training.
  • Update, monitor, and maintain the reliability of the EMS application.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve EMS system issues.
  • Lead technical evaluations of contractor software application proposals.
  • Configure and test custom EMS enhancements.
  • Support the testing and implementation of new EMS releases.

Requirements

  • Ability to multitask and switch priorities as business warrants.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize, run meetings, and give presentations to all levels of management.
  • Ability to develop documentation for users of diverse backgrounds and skills.
  • Intermediate Linux experience (using commands on Linux OS).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with PSS/E suite and OSI Plant Information System.
  • Real-time support of critical systems in a regulated cybersecurity environment.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite, software design, programming, and relational database management.
  • Experience with real-time operators display support and scripting.
  • Project management/Team Lead experience, particularly with SCADA systems - specifically GE XA21/Reliance.
