About the position

The Systems Analyst position at Fortera Credit Union is a full-time role based in Clarksville, TN, designed to maintain, upgrade, modify, enhance, customize, and support the Credit Union's business applications and all other business-critical and ancillary systems. The role is pivotal in supporting the execution of Fortera's strategy through the administration and management of core and related systems. The Systems Analyst will troubleshoot end-user problems, provide application and data integrity problem resolution, and translate business requirements into programs, reports, and functions that facilitate the Credit Union's core mission while continuously seeking opportunities to improve the member experience. In this role, the Systems Analyst will be responsible for maintaining daily operations to meet the Credit Union's information needs, performing daily operations tasks as directed, and monitoring systems as needed. The analyst will resolve software and hardware issues, including after-hours support, and will analyze business functions and management information needs to seek new and more effective solutions. The position requires maintaining system integrity and performance, producing and transmitting data to vendors, and providing support for various vendors and interfaces. Additionally, the analyst will build technical and functional documentation for new programs or changes made to existing programs, ensuring that systems hardware and software meet regulatory requirements. The Systems Analyst will also establish and maintain good communication and coordination with system users, promptly responding to user requests and ideas, resolving problems and concerns, and providing assistance, support, and training to users as required. The role involves keeping management informed of significant problems and progress in reaching established objectives, providing recommendations for new and more effective programs, and assisting and supporting other department personnel as needed. The analyst will prepare reports of changes, participate in meetings, trainings, and committees, and stay informed of changes in system functionality and computer technology. The position also includes participating in community and civic events to promote awareness of the Credit Union in the community and completing all required compliance training.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain daily operations to meet Credit Union's information needs.
  • Perform daily operations tasks as directed and monitor systems as needed.
  • Resolve software/hardware issues, including after-hours support, involving vendors and co-workers as needed.
  • Analyze business functions and management information needs to seek new and more effective solutions, gain efficiencies, and evolve our systems.
  • Maintain system integrity and performance.
  • Produce and transmit data to vendors as needed.
  • Provide support for various vendors and interfaces.
  • Build technical and functional documentation for new programs or as changes are made to existing programs.
  • Ensure systems hardware and software meets regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in installing and testing the latest software and OS patches from vendors to ensure continued, uninterrupted operation.
  • Establish and maintain good communication and coordination with system users.
  • Promptly respond to user's requests and ideas.
  • Resolve problems and concerns. Provide assistance, support, and training to users as required.
  • Ensure that software and reporting solutions meet user's requirements and are completed on schedule.
  • Communicate as much information as possible to users, including reasons for problems, project status, and deadlines.
  • Serve as consultant and resource to users.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication, coordination, and working relations with area staff and management.
  • Keep management informed of significant problems and of progress attained in reaching established objectives.
  • Provide recommendations to establish new and more effective programs and future equipment needs.
  • Assist and support other department personnel as needed.
  • Prepare reports of changes, discussing what could be improved and potential ramifications.
  • Attend and participate in meetings, trainings, and committees as required.
  • Stay informed of changes in system functionality and computer technology.
  • Ensure that work area and assigned equipment are clean, secure, and well maintained.
  • Complete special projects and other tasks as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • College degree in computer science or related field preferred or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or computer-related experience.
  • Understanding of financial institution operations and information needs.
  • Working knowledge of business software applications.
  • Fundamental understanding of technology and systems integration.
  • Two years of experience in a financial environment preferred.
  • One year of computer-related experience, preferably in a financial environment.
  • Knowledge of systems such as Jack Henry Symitar Episys, Synapsis, Power Ons preferred.
  • Python development experience preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of core and financial platforms preferred.
