About the position

At Daimler Truck, our Driver Experience team focuses on the digital on-truck solutions and works hand in hand with design, engineering, and product strategy teams globally. We develop HMI platforms for our Daimler Truck vehicle products and provide innovative HMI solutions to our customers and their drivers across our global brands and markets. We are seeking a system architect to shape the future driver experience domain for Daimler Truck and its brands. You will lead the research, design, and development of innovative driver experience solutions, contributing to the realization of Daimler Truck's software-defined vehicle platform. Collaborating with both internal and external partners, you will deliver cost-effective, forward-thinking solutions across all Daimler Truck brands. Your involvement will span all development phases, including ideation, prototyping, and system design.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for researching, designing, and developing future-oriented driver experience concepts for software defined vehicles
  • Research solutions and best practices within and outside the automotive industry
  • Collaborate with software defined vehicle project team to develop consistent and aligned concepts
  • Build prototypes to prove concepts and showcase future concepts
  • Collaborate with a diverse team of designers, UI/UX experts, feature owners, project teams, and developers located in Germany, Japan, India, and United States
  • Organize technical staff meetings and/or concept reviews across the entire driver experience domain
  • Coach and mentor team members and colleagues on all aspects of development - from methodologies to execution
  • Act as team lead deputy within department or project meetings

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science or related field with 5-7 years of relevant experience
  • Expertise in automotive system development
  • Expertise in embedded system development
  • Experience in software defined vehicle trends
  • Experience in automotive communication technology
  • Experience with display technology
  • Understanding of automotive electronic architectures
  • Experience with identifying and solving the root cause of complex problems
  • Understanding of engineering processes and downstream impacts
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented, reliable, and self-motivated
  • Ability to work in an environment of ambiguity and ongoing change
  • Positive and collaborative attitude

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with advanced communication technology such as LVDS, GMSL, ETH, AVB
  • Experience with cloud communication technology
  • Experience building prototype systems
  • Experience with user interface development
  • Knowledge and experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
