About the position

The position at BankUnited involves working collaboratively with department managers to implement initiatives and programs that align with financial revenue, operational efficiency, and strategic goals, while also adhering to regulatory requirements. The role is pivotal in driving the business to write user stories and gather and document requirements effectively. As a liaison between IT and the business line, the individual will work closely with the Senior IT Business Analyst Manager and Scrum Master to keep stakeholders informed of project progress. This includes coordinating test plans to meet project requirements and facilitating user acceptance testing to ensure quality deliverables. Key responsibilities include conducting discovery sessions to gather requirements and assisting stakeholders in writing user stories. The individual will document current and future state process workflows and work closely with product owners, vendors, and the development team to define backlogs and promote the program. The role requires participation in daily scrum stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint demos, retrospectives, and other Scrum meetings, while also helping to track and remove impediments that may hinder progress. The position emphasizes building a trusting and safe environment for the Scrum Team, where problems can be raised without fear of blame. The individual will proactively collaborate with the business to identify potential process improvements and enhancements that can increase efficiencies and reduce costs. Responsibilities also include translating business needs into design documents and specifications, preparing detailed specifications for IT programming, and working with vendors to configure third-party solutions. Additionally, the role involves acting as a testing coordinator for key initiatives, defining and documenting test plans, and ensuring requirements traceability and quality solution delivery. The individual will govern the User Stories dashboard, prepare project artifacts, and ensure timely document approvals by stakeholders. Maintaining a centralized tool for requirements inventory and monitoring change management of requirements is also crucial. The position requires adherence to federal and state laws, regulations, and Bank policies, including reporting suspicious activity.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct discovery sessions to gather requirements and help stakeholders to write user stories.
  • Document current state and future state process workflows.
  • Work closely with product owners, vendors, and development team to define backlogs and lead the team to promote the program.
  • Provide both strategic and detailed support to the Product Owner on significant projects and initiatives.
  • Assist with delivery of initiatives according to agreed upon timeline, budget, and scope under an agile framework.
  • Participate in daily scrum stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint demos, retrospectives, and Scrum meetings.
  • Help track and remove impediments.
  • Shield the Scrum Team from outside distractions and interferences.
  • Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on problem-solving.
  • Proactively collaborate with the business to identify potential process improvements and enhancements that increase efficiencies and decrease costs.
  • Translate business needs into design documents and specifications.
  • Prepare detailed specifications from which IT can program application solutions.
  • Work with vendors on configuring third-party solutions to meet the process needs of the Business Unit.
  • Work with the Software Quality Assurance (SQA) team and act as testing coordinator for key initiatives as needed by Application Delivery Manager.
  • Define, document the test plan, and coordinate user acceptance testing to help ensure requirements traceability and delivery of a quality solution.
  • Govern the User Stories dashboard, prepare project artifacts as required.
  • Ensure timeliness of document approvals by stakeholders and accessibility of project artifacts on the project's tool.
  • Ensure requirements inventory is properly maintained on a centralized tool and validate traceability to testing.
  • Monitor for proper change management of requirements.
  • Ensure acceptance criteria is met prior to go-live deployment of new solutions or enhancements.
  • Identify and share best practices to grow the Business Analyst community of practice.
  • Establish and maintain business line partnerships.
  • Demonstrate ability to guide focused diverse groups to specified goals.
  • Provide support for the team to successfully resolve problems.
  • Adhere to and comply with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and guidance, including those related to anti-money laundering.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required.
  • Experience in gathering user stories and managing backlogs in a DevOps environment.
  • Experience with Agile and waterfall software development techniques.
  • Experience with vendor management.
  • 2 - 4 years of Banking experience supporting applications required.
  • ServiceNOW experience required.
  • 1 year of experience working in Cloud AWS preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Quality Assurance, test plans and test coordination preferred.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), and/or PMI Professional in Business Analysis preferred.
