About the position

The System Data Analyst will focus on analyzing trauma and injury data for the Division of Trauma and Injury Prevention. This role encompasses various data-related tasks including exploratory data analysis, reporting, descriptive statistics, dataset curation, data visualization, and data linkage, aimed at improving the understanding and management of trauma data.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze trauma and injury data for the Division of Trauma and Injury Prevention.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis and reporting.
  • Perform descriptive statistics and dataset curation.
  • Create data visualizations and link datasets as needed.
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Translate trauma data requests into descriptive summaries and appropriate statistical tests.
  • Work closely with colleagues to identify data-related problems and provide quality customer service.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, regarding data findings and recommendations.
  • Teach others how to submit data to a registry and respond to stakeholder questions.
  • Analyze, communicate, and recommend future needs for the agency's data processing software/hardware environment related to trauma data needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Data Analysis/Management, Statistics, Public Health (Epidemiology/Biostatistics), Epidemiology or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience with SAS, R, Python or other relevant statistical software and procedures, including data cleaning and running descriptive statistics.
  • Experience with Tableau and other data visualization software.
  • Working knowledge of epidemiological methods, study design, and analysis.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Possess significant process and people skills to perform the duties of the position.
  • Ability to query trauma databases, including Indiana Trauma Registry.
  • Ability to analyze and communicate complex data effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience working with health care databases is preferred.
  • Knowledge of relational database and data warehouse design techniques and dimensional modeling processes.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware/software capabilities and configurations.
