About the position

Amazon Robotics is at the forefront of revolutionizing warehouse operations through the development of a foundational automation system that integrates multiple complex automation solutions. We are seeking a talented and motivated System Development Engineer who will play a crucial role in designing and developing controls for robotics systems and industrial automation equipment. This position involves a blend of engineering leadership and hands-on technical work, where you will be responsible for the design, development, integration, troubleshooting, and optimization of various automation solutions. You will collaborate closely with internal product development teams, as well as external engineering partners, to ensure that our solutions meet the needs of our global Amazon customers. In this role, you will be tasked with designing and continuously improving the system controls architecture, which includes machine control code, networking, electrical design, and safety design. You will develop controls code using structured text and ladder-logic on platforms such as Codesys and RSLogix 5000. Identifying and implementing system optimizations will be a key part of your responsibilities, as will debugging internal and field issues. You will also develop tools and best practices for system monitoring and troubleshooting, ensuring that our systems operate efficiently and effectively. As a leader in the engineering team, you will mentor and develop junior engineers, sharing best practices in design and development. Your contributions will extend to value engineering of the system's electrical and controls hardware components, ensuring that we deliver high-quality solutions that meet our operational standards. This position requires a commitment to rigorous testing practices and a desire to work in a fast-paced environment, where you will have the opportunity to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
