About the position

The System Development Engineer at Amazon Global Store is responsible for managing incidents and operational issues while driving operational excellence for large-scale services and systems. This role focuses on providing a seamless shopping experience for international customers by building solutions that cater to their local needs, including language, payments, and currencies. The engineer will work closely with various teams to innovate and enhance customer experience technology.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering solutions for ongoing issues, including extensive troubleshooting and debugging, covering multiple product lines.
• Work on maintenance-driven coding projects, production migration, primarily in Python scripts, web technologies, and Java-based projects.
• Read and understand complex application code and make code fixes to resolve support issues.
• Provide software deployment support in staging and production environments.
• Develop tools and automate manual operational tasks for easy maintenance of services.
• Collaborate with remote product management teams in China for feature/system enhancements and create a team-specific knowledge base.

Requirements

• Knowledge of at least one modern programming language such as C, C++, Java, or Perl.
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, or Ruby.
• Experience with tools for automation (building, testing, releasing, or monitoring).

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of and proficiency in the use of Python scripting language.
• Experience with highly concurrent, high throughput systems and knowledge of complex distributed systems.
