About the position

The System Director of Therapy Services at Astria Health is responsible for overseeing the Therapy Department, which includes Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Audiology programs. This role involves fiscal management, staff development, program planning, and collaboration with various departments to ensure high-quality patient care and adherence to organizational standards. The director will also focus on community service development and continuous quality improvement within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the activities of the Therapy and Audiology programs, setting and evaluating annual department goals and action plans.
  • Prepare and adhere to the department budget, approving orders for equipment and supplies as authorized.
  • Ensure staff providing patient care meet all requirements, including health, competency, licensing, and documentation.
  • Coordinate and supervise the clinical practice of therapy students, ensuring positive learning experiences.
  • Collaborate with Executive Leadership and Medical Staff to develop or expand clinical programs.
  • Participate in non-departmental committees and lead initiatives such as the Astria Health Safe Patient Handling Committees.
  • Review, develop, and implement policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines in collaboration with staff and leadership.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and recommend changes to the interdisciplinary leadership team and Medical Staff as needed.
  • Maintain continuous quality improvement and customer service programs, addressing customer needs and satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Physical Therapy or Doctor of Occupational Therapy with current Washington State License.
  • Eight years' experience as a Hospital staff therapist.
  • Five years' therapy leadership experience.
  • Oral and written fluency in the English language.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of The Joint Commission, Department of Health, and CMS Standards.
  • Excellent clinical judgment and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in communication, conflict resolution, and budget management.
  • Ability to prepare reports, analyze statistics, and assess staff performance objectively.
