About the position

The System Engineer 1 role involves analyzing user requirements and system architectures to develop specifications and lead design and development activities. The position requires providing technical leadership for integrating requirements, design, and technology, while ensuring the technical integrity of deliverables. The engineer will also develop technical documentation and interact with government personnel regarding systems engineering considerations.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze user requirements and develop system requirements specifications.
  • Lead design and development activities for system requirements.
  • Guide users in formulating requirements and conduct feasibility studies.
  • Provide technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technology.
  • Incorporate new plans, designs, and systems into ongoing operations.
  • Develop technical documentation and system architecture documentation.
  • Guide system development and implementation planning through assessment of system engineering management plans.
  • Interact with government regarding systems engineering technical considerations.
  • Manage system requirements to ensure compatibility with defined system architectures.
  • Contribute to the development of systems engineering documentation such as System Engineering Plans and Requirements specifications.
  • Assist with the development of functional requirements and allocation to components.
  • Coordinate resolution of action items from various meetings requiring cross-discipline coordination.
  • Participate in Integrated Product Teams to design new capabilities.
  • Allocate real-time process budgets and error budgets to components.
  • Generate alternative system concepts and design solutions.
  • Define methods and evaluation criteria for verifying systems against requirements.
  • Develop system design solutions that satisfy system requirements.
  • Review and provide input to program and contract work breakdown structures and integrated master plans.
  • Participate in interface definition and design changes throughout the life cycle.
  • Derive lower-level requirements from higher-level allocated requirements.
  • Establish and gain approval of system definitions under development.
  • Develop derived requirements for Information Assurance Services.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Seven (7) years of experience as a Systems Engineer in similar programs and contracts.
  • Bachelor's degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Five (5) years of additional Systems Engineering experience may substitute for a bachelor's degree.
