About the position

The System Engineer 2 at Nightwing plays a crucial role in supporting mission-critical needs by solving complex problems in collaboration with mission customers. This position involves serving as a scrum master in an agile environment, contributing to the development of systems engineering documentation, managing system requirements, and supporting developers in translating technical work into necessary documentation. The role requires participation in Integrated Product Teams to design new capabilities and ensure the delivery of production systems that align with defined system architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a scrum master in an agile environment.
  • Contribute to the development of systems engineering documentation such as System Engineering Plans and Requirements Specifications.
  • Manage system requirements and derived requirements to ensure compatibility with defined system architectures.
  • Support developers in translating technical work into diagrams or other documentation.
  • Assist in the development of system and functional requirements, allocating them to hardware, software, and personnel components.
  • Coordinate the resolution of action items from Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings and design reviews.
  • Participate in Integrated Product Teams to design new capabilities based on operational considerations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • 14 years of experience as a Systems Engineer in similar programs and contracts.
  • 5 years of additional Systems Engineering experience may substitute for a bachelor's degree.
  • Understanding of agile processes, Java, Confluence, Jira, and AWS.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative working style with stakeholders.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued TS/SCI with polygraph security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with systems engineering models and architecture designs.
  • Familiarity with requirements management tools.
