About the position

The position involves leading testing efforts for autonomous systems developed under the Army Robotics Common Software (ARCS) initiative. The role focuses on verification and validation (V&V) processes, ensuring that software requirements are met through rigorous testing and data collection. The candidate will work closely with engineers to decompose complex software systems and contribute to the development of test specifications and metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Act as testing lead for the autonomous system implemented in ROS.
  • Own the V&V (Verification and Validation) workflow for the product line.
  • Develop test specifications to verify software requirements with performance metrics.
  • Create and maintain test cases and metrics within Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Develop and run tests using software, simulation, and/or vehicles to collect data for ROS-based autonomous ground vehicle systems.
  • Assist requirements engineer and architect with the decomposition of complex software systems.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret clearance.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering or applied science field.
  • At least 5 years of experience implementing system engineering best practices with a focus on V&V.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle controls, sensors, autonomous systems, and functional safety.
  • Experience with MBSE and model-based development using SysML and UML tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Robotics and autonomous systems.
  • Understanding of perception, behavior, planning, and motion control of a robotic system.
