In this role as a Senior Project Engineer, you will be part of the Civil Systems Group (CSG), which is known for its deep technical expertise and innovative approaches to systems engineering and integration challenges. The CSG is organized to manage and grow programs within key federal agencies such as NASA, NOAA, and the NNSA, while ensuring compliance with Aerospace's values and operational standards. Your primary focus will be to support the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Defense Programs by applying your systems engineering and integration (SE&I) expertise to various projects. You will be responsible for leading task execution and integrating technical analyses into high-quality final products. This includes defining and implementing Mission Assurance practices within the NNSA enterprise, conducting systems studies and analyses, and collaborating with program development staff to leverage Aerospace's technical capabilities effectively. Your work will involve conducting technical analysis, developing Model Based Systems Engineering tools, and representing the Aerospace Corporation to senior-level customers. This position offers a hybrid work model, requiring at least three onsite workdays per week, with flexibility for remote work as business needs allow.

Responsibilities

  • Lead task execution and integration of technical analyses into high quality, unified final products.
  • Define and implement planning for deploying Mission Assurance practices within the NNSA enterprise.
  • Support NNSA Office of Systems Engineering and Integration and weapons modernization programs with SE&I expertise.
  • Conduct systems studies and analyses to support decision-making on acquisition and modernization projects.
  • Perform studies such as systems architecture analyses, technology development planning, and risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with program development and execution staff to leverage Aerospace's technical capabilities.
  • Conduct technical analysis and develop Model Based Systems Engineering tools for acquisition programs.
  • Represent the Aerospace Corporation to senior level customers.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited university in engineering, science, or related field.
  • At least twelve years of experience in systems engineering, requirements engineering, and risk management.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a self-motivated and self-directed manner.
  • Demonstrated teaming and leadership skills in formulating plans and leading studies.
  • Capability to perform analysis and lead technical product delivery.
  • Willingness to travel approximately one week per month to customer and collaboration sites.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • An advanced degree in engineering, science, or related field.
  • More than twelve years of experience in systems engineering and program management.
  • Experience with Digital Engineering tool sets and analysis programs such as Cameo, MATLAB, and Python.
  • Experience in systems engineering, program controls, and quality management.
  • Knowledge of NNSA Defense Programs missions.
  • Current Top-Secret Clearance.
