About the position

The System Instrument Design Architect Engineer at Apple is responsible for architecting innovative test instrument solutions for the electrical performance of iOS devices. This role involves collaboration with internal and external teams to explore new features, define instrument capabilities, and make architectural trade-offs. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in system-level design, embedded programming, and will be hands-on in prototype bring-up and debugging.

Responsibilities

• Review and influence module roadmaps and keep current with technology trends.
• Collaborate with other module and software teams.
• Work with cross-functional engineering managers and architects on hardware/software enabling technologies.
• Build internal and external instrument specifications requirements.
• Review and influence system Design for Test (DFT) decisions.
• Define, simulate, and model product performance versus power, area, cost, and schedule.
• Develop and apply tools and scripts for system modeling and analysis.
• Assess and supervise product system integration risks and implementation trade-offs with early prototype studies.
• Use schematic and layout tools such as Cadence Concept and Allegro; develop new methods of pre-route mentorship.
• Assess high-speed interface needs and prepare for future product system integration and interconnect needs.
• Conduct prototyping, bring-up, and debugging.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in system-level design for consumer electronics.
• Strong embedded programming experience.
• Hands-on experience in prototype bring-up and debugging.
• Experience in functional verification and manufacturing support.
• Ability to craft and influence system specification documents.
