About the position

Leidos Defense Systems is seeking a System Integration and Test Engineer to join a talented team within the BMD Simulations and Analysis Portfolio. In this role, you will be part of a diverse team of test engineers, system engineers, software developers, and analysts who are dedicated to supporting our customer's software product test capabilities and conducting internal testing in a missile defense modeling and simulation environment. This position is critical in ensuring the reliability and performance of software products through rigorous testing and integration processes. As a System Integration and Test Engineer, you will support software product integration, testing, and analysis activities using Kanban to manage and prioritize workflow. You will be responsible for defining, documenting, analyzing, performing, and interpreting functional tests for new and/or modified software features. Your role will also involve investigating and supporting troubleshooting of test setup and execution problems in conjunction with other engineering and technical personnel. You will work independently with little oversight as part of a broader multi-disciplined engineering team, contributing to the overall success of the projects you are involved in.

Responsibilities

  • Supports software product integration, testing, and analysis activities using Kanban to manage and prioritize workflow.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Software Engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated performance in the design, development, and testing of real-time software applications and simulations.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a basic understanding of Agile Software Development methodologies.
  • Candidates must be a resident of Huntsville, Alabama or be willing to relocate to the Huntsville, Alabama area.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in programming languages Python and/or C++ using UNIX/Linux OS.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, high-quality environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with strong customer service.
  • Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize commitments, and manage time effectively including attention to detail.
  • Expertise using Microsoft Office applications like Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and SharePoint and familiarity with Gitlab.
