About the position

The System Integrator role at Meta is designed for an individual with a strong Electrical Engineering (EE) background, focusing on the development and integration of systems for the perception team. This position involves collaborating with various cross-functional teams, including Mechanical Engineering (ME), Optical Mechanical Engineering (Opto-ME), FPGA, Thermal, Optical engineers, as well as firmware and software engineers. The primary objective is to design and integrate electrical engineering systems that will facilitate the validation of algorithms and the demonstration of working concepts through prototype systems. In this role, the System Integrator will be responsible for authoring system and subsystem requirements and specifications, documenting design files, and creating test criteria and plans for both systems and modules. The individual will also review and approve vendor design proposals, document test methodologies, and establish component qualification criteria to support system validation. A significant aspect of the job includes conducting failure analysis, root cause diagnosis, and system-level problem-solving to ensure the reliability and performance of the systems being developed. The System Integrator will oversee component selection and evaluation, schematic capture, and will work closely with the layout team to conduct and review layouts. This includes following up on PCB and PCBA manufacturing processes, performing board, subsystem, and system bring-up, as well as testing and troubleshooting. Hands-on debugging and testing at both the electrical engineering and system levels are crucial components of this role, requiring a proactive approach to cross-functional teamwork and a strong drive to achieve results.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with ME, Opto-ME, FPGA, Thermal, Optical engineers, FW/SW engineers, and safety team to design EE systems and perform system integration work.
