About the position

As a System Integration Engineer in the Product Calibration & Test Group at Apple, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and performance of Apple's innovative consumer electronics. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on the design, development, and deployment of calibration and test instrumentation systems that are integral to the success of Apple's products. You will collaborate closely with various multi-functional teams, including Design, Mechanical Engineering (ME), Electrical Engineering (EE), Software (SW), and Operations (Ops), throughout the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase. Your contributions will directly impact the calibration and testing processes, ensuring that products meet Apple's high standards before they reach consumers. In this role, you will be responsible for creating design specifications, bringing up, validating, and deploying automated instrumentation systems that calibrate and test Apple's products during both the NPI and mass production phases. Your responsibilities will be tailored to your technical background, but you will likely engage in tasks such as architecting instrumentation systems, including hardware specifications, and maintaining these systems throughout production. You will also work with the mechanical engineering team to specify and validate the necessary mechanical fixtures and automation systems. Additionally, you will develop, debug, and optimize automation software, analyze large datasets generated from your instrumentation systems, and adopt data-driven approaches to solve engineering challenges. Performing failure mode root cause analysis and resolution will be key, as you will debug issues from the system level down to the component level. Frequent interactions with Apple’s EE, product design, firmware, operations, and logistics teams will be essential, as will developing standard operating procedures (SOPs), debug instructions, and documentation as part of your responsibilities.
