About the position

The System Integration Engineer role focuses on designing, developing, and optimizing electric powertrain systems for heavy equipment. This position is critical in ensuring compliance with emissions standards and involves close collaboration with technical leads and internal partners within a leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop concepts for electrified powertrain systems.
  • Identify and leverage design and development opportunities.
  • Use simulation to optimize systems.
  • Conduct trade-off analysis using metrics such as performance, total cost of ownership (TCO), and R&D investment.
  • Complete system design activities alongside component design owners.
  • Support development builds and validation processes.
  • Troubleshoot electric powertrain systems, addressing electrical and mechanical challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10+ years in product (machine, system, or component) development or 8+ years with a Master's or PhD in Engineering.
  • Proficiency in interpreting and developing electrical system schematics.
  • Ability to create detailed electrical schematics per industry and company standards.
  • Application of electrical theory to powertrain design.
  • Familiarity with design and simulation tools.
