The Systems Liaison Engineer plays a critical role in the Aircraft Maintenance department, reporting directly to the Systems Engineering Manager. This position is responsible for overseeing aircraft engineering, configuration control, and the acquisition of modification and repair data necessary for the maintenance and modification of fleet aircraft and appliances. The engineer ensures that all approved data is utilized in the development of Engineering Orders (EOs) and Engineering Authorizations (EAs) that are essential for the maintenance, repair, and modification processes. A key responsibility includes obtaining regulatory approval for modifications and repairs performed on Kalitta Air aircraft and components, ensuring compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations. The engineer must analyze each repair and alteration to determine its classification as major or minor according to 14 CFR requirements. Additionally, the engineer evaluates various regulatory documents, including Notices of Proposed Rulemaking, Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Service Bulletins (SBs), and other notifications regarding in-service issues to ensure that the Kalitta Air Maintenance Inspection Programs are updated as necessary. The Systems Liaison Engineer is also tasked with developing all necessary engineering documentation required to complete assigned projects within the allocated time frame, issuing project status reports to demonstrate progress and compliance with established schedules. This role requires close collaboration with the Structures/Systems Engineer Manager to develop corrective action plans based on in-service defect data. Furthermore, the engineer coordinates with other Kalitta Air engineering staff to provide 24/7 technical support to various departments, including Technical Services, Ground Operations, and Flight Operations. The position involves interfacing with manufacturers, maintenance representatives, MRO facilities, regulatory agencies, and other external entities to provide liaison engineering functions. The engineer will also support the integration of repairs and modifications for both new and previously operated aircraft, update manufacturer manuals and documents to ensure accuracy, and participate in industry working groups and conferences as requested. Other duties may be assigned by the Engineering Manager as needed.
